Simply put, Math Olympics is an activity-filled event for students that can help foster a love for math.
It is inspired by the Olympics, where participants are able to compete in various sporting events and showcase their talents with their community. Similarly, our Math Olympics encourages a sense of community, develop various talents, and allow students to learn in practical and fun ways.
On the day of the event, the school will have an Opening Ceremony, where students can present their team flags and team names. We will also be passing a 'torch' around the school prior to the event to help build up excitement.
Stations will be placed around the school. The stations will include math-based activities, some of which will be inspired by different sports. Students will circulate around the school, and earn medals in each station.
Essentially, all students will be winners by the end of the event, since the goal is to get them engaged in math and to build community along the way.
